Inspiration
Think about what you wanted your MIT experience to be. For us, it was hearing about students who were the best at what they did, whether that was winning international competitions or building nuclear reactors in their garage. It was every person who invested in our success, big or small, and wanting to give a bit back. It was late nights in a dorm room, hacking something crazy with good friends, like a rocket or some electronics, or, dare we say, an MRI. It's the feeling that the impossible is possible.
There are a lot of structured experiences at MIT — classes, clubs, UROPs, established build teams working towards a well-scoped, defined problem. In those places you touch a small part of the stack: how to stitch this mechanism or that tool, what dimensions this should have in CAD. It's easy to lose sight of the bigger picture.
Onboarding
We train all new members in the skills the build needs: machining and CAD, PCB soldering, RF electronics, FPGA programming, and MRI physics. Upon joining, you will also have the option to choose which of our four subteams you would like to join: Hardware, Software, Mechanical, and Gradients. You can be in just one or all four if you'd like! We also have non-technical roles such as logistics, business, and social roles.
